Armless Guitar Player Plays With His Feet

July 22, 2018 by admin 4 Comments

Mark Goffeney is a guitarist who was born with no arms. The first video I saw of him was his street performance of “Drift Away” (by the Doobie Brothers). I was truly inspired by him. It was just him in the middle of the street with his shoes off playing guitar while a crowd eased in to listen.

Every once in a while we encounter moments like these that makes us think about how well we got it. And it’s amazing how his “disability” does not hold him back. He doesn’t think about his lack of arms. He’s just plays his music and it’s obvious he loves it.

Here he is with his band “Big Toe”. Their first official video We are The Same

I was blown away with the guy with no arms. I sure can’t complain about my abilities or the lack there of, his song we are the same was a tribute to mankind and the indifference that plagues us and his bass playing was very inspiring.

Well said, Kirk. Out of all the great guitar players I’ve discovered recently, this guy has to be one of my biggest inspirations to me just because of his determination to play the food of love (music!) you can only imagine how hard he had to practice to be able to play with his feet.

Hey- If you get this, Mark, include me as a fan. Love your playing and spirit. I play guitar and bass. Although I have both arms and all fingers, I went thru an accident years ago and had to relearn to play. It left me with a profound respect for those who have to work extra. (the violinsit in my New Orleans blues-funk band was a guitarist who lost fingers in his left hand. Incredible player) Listen- my wife is from Guatemala. In my travels there I befriended a little girl with no hands or feet. She is so strong and proud- she moved me like nobody has. If you ever care to, could you send some promo- words of inspiration- anything? Thank you – Don’t ever stop Bruce
