For those of you who haven’t heard, or possibly live in Antarctica, Adult Swim host a hilariously apocalyptic comedy involving mind-blowing guitar riffs, a clueless band and all the big names in Metal today. Prepare for the Metalocalypse!

Metalocalypse is a cartoon show with a runtime averaging about 15 minutes per segment.
Throughout an episode we follow the hapless adventures of an insanely popular death metal band, Dethklok as they try to not only make mind-blowing music, but also the daily chores of being a celebrity.
The members of Dethklok can make music to rival just about any metal fan, but when it comes to casual tasks such as preparing a meal, chaos ensues.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Metalocalypse are the large amounts of cameos, from Metallica members James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett to members of more extreme acts like Devin Townsend and Gene Hoglan from Strapping Young Lad fame. Try and keep and ear open to hear if you can recognize different playing styles from all the greats.

Almost each episode has some or other theme relating to typical band encounters such as trying to get the perfect riff, arguments between band mates and crazy fans. This makes for sidesplitting comedy and amazing music alike.

Series co-creater, Brendon Small, plays all the shows music, including that of Dethklok. Dethklok, actually Brendon Small, have released one album already, The Dethalbum that shot up the record charts and received great critical acclaim.

Small had this to say on being the creative force behind the shows music, “…how many opportunities am I gonna get to make a record and play all the instruments and do all the solos and all the singing? I’m probably only going to get one so I may as well make it kind of cool.”

Besides the above-mentioned aspects of the show, Metalocalypse’s Dethklok are also endorsed by real world products, something of a first for both the guitar and animation industry. Krank Amplification, Gibson guitars, EMG pickups, David Eden Amplification, Universal Audio, M-Audio, Dunlop Manufacturing/MXR, and Line 6 gear are just some of the brands that Dethklok endorse, making Metalocalypse a truly Guitar-Driven show.

News on the street is that the Gibson Guitar Corporation is also planning on making a Dethklok signature guitar. By this we can expect something that won’t only produce amazing solos, but also look just as brutal as any metal fan might want.

The show’s co-creator Brendon Small also regularly tours American’s college campuses and plays Dethklok’s album with bassist, Bryan Beller and rhythm guitarist Mike Keneally, both who have recorded and toured with legendary guitarist Steve Vai. The amazingly talented Death metal drummer, Gene Hoglan who has played with bands such as Death, Testament and Strapping Young Lad, provides the drumming for the touring band.
