Fan favourites, Gibson Guitar have announced that they are releasing a music album, featuring tracks performed by some of the world’s most talented and famous guitarists, exclusively for download from HDTracks.com.
The album, Gibson Presents: Hot Tones in High Definition will only be available for 60 days, from the 6th of October. So get going!
All tracks will be available in an assortment of high quality audio formats including uncompressed AIFF and FLAC and 320kbps MP3. The best part is that all of them are DRM-free. This seems to be the current trend with artists and companies alike. Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Saul Williams are just some of the artists who oppose DRM.
All this sound too good to be true? Well it’s not! Keep an eye on HDTracks.com and if your connection isn’t too slow, download the best possible quality. It’s definitely worth it. One lucky downloading visitor who manages to download the entire album before the 6th of December will win a Gibson Robot Les Paul, as well as other awesome equipment from Creative Labs. Now that’s motivation.
The Hot Tones in High Definition album will be released exclusively via digital download and you won’t be able to get it anywhere else after the 60 days are up.
Artists featured on the album include Tinsley Ellis, Johhny A, Big Bill Morganfield, Michael Burks, Chris Cain, Nick Colionne, Billy Burnette, Peter Karp, Eric Johnson, Arlen Roth (with Sonny Landreth), Kenny Neal, Johnny Winter and Neal Schon. And if that wasn’t enough, the album features a never-before-heard instrumental track with father and son partnership, Abraham Laboriel Sr and Jnr. together with the almighty Slash. It definitely sounds too good to be true.
Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Billy Burnette has gone on the record as saying, “As an artist I am thrilled by the whole format since it’s such high quality. To me this is all ear candy, no fluff, and it’s the real deal.” How sweet of him.
Gibson Guitar CEO and Chairman, Henry Juszkiewicz said this in the press release, “Gibson is committed to providing its customers with the most innovative and exciting musical experiences in the world. This will be one of many such opportunities as we continue to partner with Hdtracks on this pioneering effort.”
Co-Founder of HDTracks.com, David Chesky went on to say, “I’ve never been a fan of MP3s and I wanted to have a website that delivered the same quality music as you’d get in a record store. When Henry and I met we discussed nine million things. He thinks outside the box, and we decided that giving the public an opportunity to download something truly different and in such high quality was not only an offer of convenience but the genesis of Gibson Guitar’s next step into technology”
Personally, the idea of free, high quality music sounds pretty awesome. Any artist who promotes free music these days has my vote; it must take a lot of guts to stand up against a record company giant. Bottom line, get over there and tell us what you think of the album!

Seems like they’re behind on the release. It was to be available from the 6th, but as of today the HDTracks.om home page simply says: “The Gibson ‘Hot Tones in High Definition’ album will be available for download soon.”
