With the U.S elections looming, one can’t go anywhere or do anything with hearing something about Obama’s family, McCain’s time in a POW camp or Palin’s wardrobe. Sick of it? You wouldn’t be the only one.

Everyone seems to be highly clued up to what’s going on, well, except McCain. (Oooh).
Even two astronauts aboard the International Space Station will be voting via a supposedly secure electronic uplink. Damn, that’s impressive.

Musicians and actors from across the board have been supporting both sides.
One Obama’s team is the Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne (who was more than a little annoyed by McCain’s use of his song), Heart (another act who’s song was used without permission), alt-country icon Steve Earle, Tom Morello, Barbara Streisand (although I think that might be more hurtful than helpful), Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. Now isn’t that a list. Obama even had to distance himself from a track of Ludacris’ who was a bit… overly excited.

On the red team is John Rich from Big and Rich, who is an ardent Republican and huge McCain fan, ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, a longtime Republican, was okay with the usage of the track “Right Now” to introduce running-mate Palin even though the rest of the band were rather peeved.

Other artists include LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, John Rich and believe it or not… Daddy Yankee. Yup, the reggaeton artist is surprisingly an passionate McCain. He’s held free concerts for both Republican delegates and reggaeton fans alike. It’s a rather awkward situation with Daddy Yankee awkward at social functions and McCain having to pretend he knows who Daddy Yankee actually is.

Outspoken hard rocker Ted Nugent is a huge fan of both McCain and Palin, but then he would be seeing as he advocates the NRA. He’s such a dedicated supporter of Sarah Palin that he’s actually sent her an advance copy of his book, “Ted, White & Blue: The Nugent Manifesto.”

Crazy.

Tomorrow, on the 3rd of November, on the Japanese network NHK, the former Megadeth guitarist, Marty Friedman will appear on a special two-hour program call “The Power Of Presidential Speeches”. He will discuss his views and supposedly give a “gives a rare and unique in-depth commentary” on the elections. Hmm… I’ll have to see it to believe it.

He’ll be up along side top Japanese Political analysts discussing the presidential race in all its entirety.

Marty, now with Lovefixer, has been busy man with the new project in pre-production, tentatively due in early 2009.

Lovefixer is said to be the first-ever American/Japanese collaboration in Japanese rock, which features Marty on guitar and Shinichiro “Sin” Suzuki on vocals. The group made its live debut in Sapporo in August 2007.
Infamous rap rock legends, Rage Against The Machine, who’ve always had something to say on U.S political ideals, have been vocal about the notorious Iraq-war, saying that both Obama and McCain have to agree on getting troops out of there as soon as possible. They’re not even happy with Obama’s 2010 withdrawal plan.
So with the election on everyone’s lips, it seems even the stars have something to say. Hold thumbs for your candidate, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
